I'm running Photoshop CS6, Bridge, a youtube video, a tumblr page full of gifs, and I'm posting this, all without my computer slowing down! Amazing! For those of you curious my computer is a Macbook Pro (mid 2010) with a 2.66 ghz Intel core duo processor, 4 gigs of ram, and now a 240gb PNY SSD! I might upgrade the ram to 8gb, this thing might just fly though the roof!

Nice pickup. What made you choose a PNY ssd as opposed to the other ones out there? I've been tossing around the idea of picking one up but the prices have kept me from taking the jump.

They're the cheapest with the best reviews, 24ogb for $11o!

I love SSDs. I always recommend them to friends as the best upgrade you can make to a computer, but they never listen. Currently have a 1TB 1GB/s SSD on my MacBook and if I remember correctly my Surface Pro has a 128GB 500MB/s SSD.

I have a Mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. I upgraded to a 640gb HDD (need space over speed) and 8gb of ram. Dont you love the Nvidia 320M graphics chip? its the last macbook to not have integrated graphics

I got mine a week after it debuted (april 2010), I remember being fascinated by the toothbrush charger. Mine has served me well, The only maintenance it needed was the battery and the hinge cover replaced 2 years ago

Yeah SSDs are awesome. I have a 120GB that runs my OS and then a 1TB one for all my programs. Everything is pretty much loaded up before you even think about using it. Plus they are getting cheaper too.

More RAM and an SSD are two of the best bang for the buck upgrades out there, nice work!

I may look into that. My MBP 17" end of 2011 model has been a slow, unreliable piece of junk from the moment I bought it and is completely unusable ever since I updated to Mavericks in April. Will swap the Nvidia graphics chip and put in an ssd.
Sorry, I know this is somewhat unrelated to your post BUT I AM ANGRY!!! I paid €2000 for the computer and it lasted a good 2 1/4 years. Fuck!

I have one for my OS and programs but not for critical data storage. Until data recovery costs come down more I'll just use an array of standard platter style drives.

Yep, SSDs FTW! I'm tempted to get another for my work PC.

Woot! I put a Samsung 830 128GB in my Windows desktop a little over a year ago, and the speed increase is incredible. There is nothing else you can buy that will result in such a clear and useable increase in speed.
Hey folks, if your computer still boots off a platter-based disk, you really ought to upgrade it to an SSD.

But they are expensive, help me find a good one. And could you find a tutorial you consider good on youtube?
